What is SECR?

The streamlined energy and carbon reporting framework (SECR) is a UK government policy. It is a report that measures the carbon footprint of a business or enterprise. SECR is now in force & covers financial reporting years starting on or after 1 April 2019.

Compliance

The compliance structure of SECR is very similar to the compliance criteria of ESOS. The need to comply with the new framework will be based primarily on financial or employee thresholds.

Reports

Companies in scope of the SECR legislation will need to include their energy and carbon information in their Directors’ Report as part of their annual filing obligations.
