DES Energy were proud to support The Magic Club and Rewild The Child in providing a nature away day programme for young people.
The programme was designed to connect or reconnect young people to the natural environment.
In the past decade, the benefits of connecting to nature have been well documented in numerous scientific research studies and publications. Giving children exciting outdoor educational experiences and helping them to explore and discover the today’s children and families often have limited opportunities to connect with the natural environment.
The Connecting to Nature programme combines nature-based activities including shelter building, guided walks, team challenges and natural craft activities.
The Magic Club is a registered charity operating in Blackpool. Working with young people aged 7-18 through a programme of youth clubs, holiday activity, detached youth work, trips, residentials, Duke of Edinburgh & Arts Award programmes, entrepreneurial projects, volunteering pathways and 1-2-1 support.
The youth project, which is in the heart of one of the most deprived areas not just in Blackpool but in the whole of England, is transforming children's lives in Claremont.
The initiative is closely aligned to DES Energy’s purpose is to shape a sustainable future via cleaner, greener energy.
